I have connected Pixel buds to Google Pixel 3XL, and I am experiencing a faint static hissing sound. The static comes immediately when I start playing music and stays for 5-10 seconds until after the music stops playing.

That's something that was mentioned by a few reviewers though I haven't noticed it myself. I don't know if there's a way to resolve it but for now I'd recommend sending feedback to let the developers and engineers know that you're experiencing this static hiss:

I have this same issue, just sent feedback via directions by John. I really hope this issue is capable of being fixed via firmware or else they are going to have to be returned. I REALLY REALLY don't want to, because I really like these buds, but the white noise is just unacceptable.

I am having the same issue with mine. Both when connected to my 4xl and my laptop. This is unacceptable for a $200 pair of buds. If they can't fix this soon I won't have any other choice but to return them.

not sure if mine is the same but it is static during calls the sound from the other person is not good, its like tiny static pops and scratches thats the best way to describe it i have a pixel 4xl and i also own the galaxy buds plus and they dont have this problem at all same for the air pods 2nd gen i own and i also had the airpods pro and did not have this with any of these.  please google fix this i do love these .

I am having both the issues of the OP and Robert Wilson.

If playing something at low volume, the static/white noise is especially prominent.

While on calls (phone, conferencing apps) i experience sporadic digital noise (tiny static pop/reverb/scratch).

I also hear pops as the headphones switch modes, such as after placing 1 in the case.

I've tried all things including disabling all features and performing a reset. 

I left feedback within the Pixel Buds app; no news from google will sadly necessitate a return.

Same experience here, although I would describe mine
as "unusually high digital switching noise".
Based on the nature of the sound I doubt it'll be fixed with an update. My best guess is that the small physical footprint of the buds and their extreme proximity to the ear combined with significant electronic activity (Bluetooth communication, processing, amplification...) Has resulted the higher-than-average noise floor.
Not thrilled that I have to live with it but at least now I know I didn't get a defective unit.

Just took mine out of the box.  Played music on spotify and there is an annoying white noise at low volumes.  Stops as soon as I stop playing music.  I hope this can be resolve or these buds are going back

I'm having the same white noise issue.  If this isn't fixed in a firmware update, I'll have to send them back.
