With Gemini on Google Pixel Buds, you can chat with Gemini, your new AI assistant hands-free. You can set alarms and timers, find information from the web and across many of your apps such as Gmail, Calendar and Keep. You can also Go Live with Gemini to have free-flowing conversations.
Get started
To use Gemini on Pixel Buds, you need:
Google Pixel Buds (any model)
An Android 10 or later mobile device
A Google Account
An internet connection

Set Gemini as your digital assistant
To use Gemini with Google Pixel Buds, you need to first set Gemini as your digital assistant on your Android device. You can do this in any of the following ways:

- On your Android device, open your device’s Settings app.
- Tap Apps

- Follow the on-screen instructions.

- On your Android device, open the Google app

Google Assistant.
- Tap Digital assistants from Google
Gemini.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
To turn off Gemini, set Google Assistant as your digital assistant.
Gemini voice control
As your digital assistant, Gemini is able to comply with requests and complete tasks just by talking to it. Learn more on how to talk with your assistant.
Use Gemini on lockscreen
To use Gemini even when your phone is locked, turn on the Gemini on Lockscreen setting. To get personal results without needing to unlock your phone each time, make sure that the Only require one unlock setting is turned on. Both Gemini and Gemini Live are available on Pixel Buds.
- Gemini combines GenAI with the capabilities of Google Assistant for better results.
- Gemini Live lets you chat more naturally, just like you would with a friend. You don't need to use specific commands or phrases to get Gemini Live's responses.
On Google Pixel Buds
To use Gemini: Say “Hey Google,” then say your prompt or command. You can also tap and hold the earbud, then say a prompt or command. For example, you can say:

“Summarize the emails I’ve received today ”

“Create a workout playlist.” (Might require subscription)

“Add an event ‘Tommy’s Soccer game’ for tomorrow, 4:00 p.m.”
To use Gemini Live: Say “Hey Google, let’s talk Live.” Or tap and hold the earbud, then say “Let’s talk Live.” You can double tap an earbud at any time to exit Gemini Live.
On a Pixel phone with Android 10+
- Go to Settings
Connected Devices.
- Under "Saved devices," tap your paired Pixel Buds' Settings

With the Gemini app
Open the Gemini app to start chatting with Gemini. To use Gemini Live, tap the Gemini Live button in the app or in the Gemini overlay. If you lock your phone, the live conversation can continue through your Pixel Buds.
