You can dispute unauthorised Google Pay transactions and cancel certain payments.
Step 1: Check if the payment went through
- You can't dispute a payment until it's finished.
- The amount shown for payments that are still going through might change.
- When you stop a payment, it might take some time before you get your money back.
Step 2: Check if someone you know made the payment
If someone in your family or a friend used your Google Account or your payment method, go to the relevant section below.

Important: When you stop a subscription, you won't get the money back for payments that you've already made. You can't change your mind about stopping a subscription, but you can always sign up again.
Step 3: Dispute a payment that you didn't make

Dispute a payment that you don't recognise on the Google Pay app or on the Google Pay website
If you find a payment on the Google Pay website that you don't recognise:
- Compare the Google Pay payment amount with what your bank says on their online banking app.
- Do not check the old bank statements or receipts; they might be wrong.
- If the amount that your bank shows is wrong or you don't recognise the payment, talk to the branch and try to fix the problem with them.
- If you can't fix the problem with the branch, you can say 'no' to the payment.
- If the payment was made with your debit card, credit card, bank account or any other payment method linked to your Google Pay account, you can say 'no' to the payment. Learn how to report a problem.
