Manage your money & transactions in the Google Pay app

With the Google Pay app, you can:

  • Find all your accounts in one secure place.
  • Search across your transactions.
  • Check your balance.
  • Receive insights on your activity.
To get money insights, you must link your bank or credit card account, prepaid card, or PayPal account to the app.

Review previous & upcoming transactions

Find your recent activity

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. Under "Activity," you can find your recent completed transactions.
  3. To find all your transactions, tap Show all.

Tip: Find your refunds and past rewards within your past activity.

Find your upcoming transactions

If your credit card, bank account, prepaid card, or PayPal account is linked with Plaid, you may find recurring transactions in the Google Pay app:

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. Under "Upcoming," you can find your next recurring transaction and an estimated date based on your transaction history.
    • To find all recurring transactions detected by Google Pay, tap View All.
    • To choose which recurring transactions to include under "Upcoming," tap Options. You can change what's included at any time.

For questions about your upcoming transactions, contact the merchant, service provider, or your bank directly.

Tips:

  • Tap a specific transaction to send us feedback or to find previous transactions from that business or person.
  • If you can’t find all your transactions, check if you’re linked to Plaid. Learn more about Plaid.
  • After you link to Plaid, it may take several hours for your transactions to appear.
  • Upcoming transactions are estimates from your linked accounts and may not immediately reflect any updates or cancellations.

Search for a transaction

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. Tap Search Search.
  3. Enter keywords for your transaction. You can search by:
    • Business name
    • Transaction amount
    • Transaction date or time period
    • Category
    • Item description
    • Refunds
    • Rewards
  4. Tap on any transaction to find more details.

Tips:

  • You can search keywords like Refunds, Upcoming, Shopping this month, and $100.
  • After you start a search, you can tap on tabs like Transactions, Businesses, and Offers.

Understand where you spend your money

Track how much you spend with Google Pay

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. To find how much money you have and how much you’ve spent, tap Insights .
  3. For a list of what you spend weekly, tap You spent.
  4. You can find your transactions by:
    • Date: What you spent weekly
    • Businesses: What you spent with different merchants

Find your financial insights

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. Tap Insights .
  3. At the top, you can find your financial insights.
  4. For details about your insights, swipe through the available insights. You might find:
    • Bank fees charged
    • Large purchases
    • Upcoming bills
    • Spending summaries

Find your balances on Google Pay

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. Tap Insights .
  3. Tap You have.
  4. You can find your balance history by:
    • The current month
    • Last 3 months

Tip: If your account balance is incorrect, make sure you're signed in to the correct Google Account. Learn how to change the Google Account linked to your Google Pay app.

Track what you spend with categories

Google automatically assigns categories to transactions with info available about different businesses. If our system can’t determine the category, the transaction could be categorized as “Other.”

You can find categories:

  • Within the transaction tiles in the home screen
  • On a specific transaction in the details page
  • Within the search results page

Tip: You can re-categorize your transaction from the transaction details page.

Find businesses by identity attributes

Merchants can self-select identity attributes to let you know details about their business. To find businesses that you want to support, you can check for:

  • Asian-owned 
  • Black-owned 
  • Latino-owned 
  • LGBTQ+-owned 
  • Veteran-owned
  • Women-owned

You may find these attributes on your recently completed transactions, or in search.
