Split a bill & track expenses with a group

In the Google Pay app, you can split a bill between multiple people and track expenses with a group.

Split a bill

Tip: One person can create a bill and request money from the created group.

With a new group

1. Open the Google Pay app .
2. At the top, tap Search   People  Split with friends.
3. To include contacts in the group, search and select the contacts you want to add.
4. After you select all the group members, tap Continue.
5. Enter a group name.
6. Tap Next.
7. Enter the bill total.
8. Tap Done.
9. Choose the amount each person owes.
   • To split the bill evenly: Tap Done.
   • To change how much someone owes:
     • Next to their name, tap the amount.
     • Enter the amount they owe and tap Done.

Tip: You can split a bill with up to 20 people.

With an existing group

1. Open the Google Pay app .
2. At the top, tap Search   Split with friends.
3. Tap a group. Learn how to create or manage a group.
4. Tap Next.
5. Enter the bill total.
6. Tap Done.
7. Choose the amount each person owes.
   • To split the bill evenly: Tap Done.
   • To change how much someone owes:
     • Next to their name, tap the amount.
     • Enter the amount they owe and tap Done.
8. Tap Send request.

Tip: You can split a bill with up to 20 people.

Split an existing transaction

1. Open the Google Pay app .
2. At the top, tap Search   Select a group.
3. In the "Expenses" tab, tap Add expense  Split existing transaction.
4. Select the transaction you want to split.
5. Tap Continue  Send requests. 

Check the status of your shared expenses & send reminders

1. Open the Google Pay app .
2. At the top, tap Search .
3. Select the group that you created the expense with.
4. Go to the "Expenses" tab.
5. Next to the person who owes you, select Send reminder.

Tip: Each group can only have one expense tracker.

Pay your portion of a bill or expenses

If you turn on notifications for the Google Pay app, you’re notified when someone asks you to split a bill. You can also find the bill in a group or individual chat.

1. Open the Google Pay app .
2. At the top, tap Search .
3. Select the group you need to pay.
4. In the "Expenses tab," select Settle up.
5. Select the transaction you want to pay  Pay.
6. Select your payment method  Proceed to pay.
