VPN alternatives

- As part of their system settings, Pixel 8 and newer devices offer a built-in VPN.

- After VPN by Google One is removed from the Google One app, Pixel 7 users can continue to use VPN functionality when they update their system software.
- Through a system update in June 2024, Pixel enables VPN by Google, a built-in VPN, for Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, and Fold.

Uninstall VPN by Google One on Windows
- Open Start menu Settings.
- Click Apps.
- Under "Apps & features," search for

- Confirm uninstall prompt.
Uninstall VPN by Google One on macOS
- Open Finder.
- In the sidebar, click Applications.

Turn off VPN by Google One
Turn off the VPN if you have internet connection issues.

- On the system tray or the taskbar notification area, right-click the VPN by Google One logo .
- Click Turn off VPN.
macOS
- On your device, open the Network System Preferences.
- Click VPN by Google One.
- Click the Disconnect button.
- Verify that "Google One VPN" is off.
About VPN by Google One
Why was VPN by Google One discontinued?- For the best performance on Pixel, VPN by Google is optimized and provides a fully integrated experience in the phone’s settings.
- Based on which network the phone is connected to, VPN by Google can automatically connect or disconnect itself.
- The option to use a broader IP address region, like country-level IP address versus city-level or state-level, isn’t available in VPN by Google.
- The ability to block the internet if the VPN gets disconnected isn’t available in VPN by Google.
Dark web report integration with Results about you
Dark web report will become available to all users with a consumer Google Account. Dark web report is integrated with Results about you as a combined solution to help users protect their online presence.
Results about you is a feature that helps you find out if your personal contact info, like your home address, phone number, or email address shows up in search results.
Timeline
Soon, dark web report will no longer require a Google One membership. All users signed into their Google Accounts can use the feature, as it’s made available along with Results about you.
