Overwhelming bias towards space sciences

Google News Science sections' "first page" highlights an overwhelming bias towards space, or “distant” sciences in detriment to "nearby" science. This bias discourages young people from engaging in science that is closer and immediately relevant. There are a myriad of topics to encourage diverse young people towards finding an area of interest, to look around and become curious. Eventually, to become and engaged citizen, a citizen scientists or a researcher
The first page of the Google Science News section must come down to earth, show a balance of all STEM subjects and thus; become both broad and relevant to the general public

Hi Jeff,

I agree, the 'latest' news under the 'science' section does seem to - heavily - favor space related news.

Notice though that there are sub-headings, ' environment', ' space', ' physics', ' genetics', and 'wildlife', that can be drilled down into for more targeted stories. I understand what you are looking at though, the front, most obvious, section under sciences is almost all space news.

If you would like to send feedback directly to Google News about the emphasis on space related news in the 'science, latest' section, I would suggest sending feedback to them directly. This is a user to user forum, and Google News employees don't always see all of the posts here.

To send feedback directly to the team, click on your account icon in the upper right corner of the app (or the ? icon in the web version) and follow the prompts to 'feedback'.

The Google News team takes the feedback and will consider it as they make changes in future versions of Google News,

Chris

Google is not a publiction with an editor;

Google algorithm matches content (news, blogs, or any other publisher's content ) based on your interests,.
The content is shown based on the interests the system has identified as relevant to you;

Google News publishes news based on what publishers publish ! For there to be a balance, perhaps publishers should stop writing about the same subject
