Is there any way that including paywall-blocked articles is not a deceptive practice by Google News? 0 Recommended Answers 1 Reply 0 Upvotes

By showing us a story and inviting us to click on it, Google is implicitly telling us that we will be able to read the story, not that we will get to read an ad for the paywall-blocked news site.  Since we do not get to read the story (I am thinking here mostly of the Washington Post), Google shows horrible customer service and indeed deceptive practices.  There is not even any warning of the paywall!

News sources should only be accepted for inclusion in Google News on condition that they are completely unblocked and there is no paywall.

Its not google blocking the site, it is the publication site itself that puts up the paywall.
Usually most sites will allow x number of free articles a month.
If there is a particular news site you are interested in, then a subscription with that specific news provider may be worth the investment.. (otherwise. what i do is once my free articles are up.. read news on other sites for the rest of the month).
