100s of websites removed on Jan 6 from Google News

Looks like 100s of websites have been removed from Google News on the intervening night between Jan 5 and Jan 6.

This is certainly true for India, not sure about the rest of the world. I know a dozen of webmasters who have been hit, as such I'm guessing that the affected websites should number over 100.

Among the sites removed are many that have millions of visitors per month.

It doesn't seem to be a quality issue, as I can see many not-so-great websites continue to remain in, while more decent sites have been removed.

Looks technical.

Let's wait for more examples and see if we can figure out any common factor. Does appear to be purely a content issue though.

IT was a bug, which has since been squashed.

What happened to Google. For my Targeted queries. it is only showing black hat results which have no information and relevancy.

My site is not appearing in the results.

It has happened with many websites in our niche

Let me know if it is by mistake or what

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us via chat regarding the removal of your site from Google News.

I’d like to share that we periodically review news sources, particularly following user complaints, to ensure Google News offers a high quality experience for our users. When we reviewed your site, {http://www.webtopnews.com/}, we found that we can no longer include it in Google News at this time.

We have certain guidelines in place regarding the quality of sites which are included in Google News. Please feel free to review these guidelines at the following link: https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/40787

Your site is scheduled to be removed from Google News for a period of at least 60 days. After this 60-day period has elapsed, you can re-apply for inclusion in Google News provided your site meets our guidelines. We appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Please note that you'll still be able to find your site in Google Web Search and other Google services.

We know it can be frustrating to not have more information about this but we appreciate your efforts and understanding. Please keep in mind that we will be unlikely to review your site for at least 60 days following this email.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’d be happy to help.

Thanks for your interest in Google News!

Regards,
Kamal

Levels

Member levels indicate a user's level of participation in a forum. The greater the participation, the higher the level. Everyone starts at level 1 and can rise to level 10. These activities can increase your level in a forum:

  • Post an answer.
  • Having your answer selected as the best answer.
  • Having your post rated as helpful.
  • Vote up a post.
  • Correctly mark a topic or post as abuse.

Having a post marked and removed as abuse will slow a user's advance in levels.
