My news sitemap shows 0 pages indexed - My web sitemap shows 15 - Which one is feeding Google News

Guys,

Finally got our first article to show up today on the news - however, I think we still have a problem.

When I checked my webmaster account - in the sitemap list - only one of my sitemaps showed any pages indexed.

My news sitemap is at http://www.kingofalltrades.com/google-news-sitemap.xml
My normal web sitemap is at http://www.kingofalltrades.com/sitemap.xml

Today our first article appeared on google. It was actually an older article - not our most recent. On top of that - the news sitemap not showing anything indexed makes me think it's pulling from our web sitemap not the automatically updated news sitemap I have installed in my wodpress blog.  I am at wits end making sense of what's really going on.  I need to find out how to get the news sitemap to feed / populate google news ie index right.

Any advice/help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Rick

Google News won't pull articles from the web sitemap, they're too different waters.

Try removing the news sitemap from the console and submit it again making sure you select "Google news sitemap" when prompted to select the type.
Maybe it just needs you to be a bit pushy :)

OK - thanks for the quick response - just removed the news sitemap then went back in and added it - very carefully to make sure I did it correctly.

Sitemap has been reloaded and shows up with the green check mark - still no pages on it indexed though. Thinking I need to use more profanity :-)

Still nada/zero/zip

No idea why the news sitemap is showing no posts - but somehow we ended up with an article posted to google.  I'm happy with that one showing up - but more concerned about the newer articles that aren't.  I'll keep trying to work the issue - it has actually shown zero pages indexed on the news sitemap for about a week and a half now.

Erm, actually you have 3: http://news.google.com/news/search?aq=f&pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=site%3Awww.kingofalltrades.com
But I can access your WordPress only with huge delays for some reason, tried from the United States, Japan and my own location. The connection is very slow and it's not just me.
So, let's wait a few minutes and see if when the site recovers fully what happens.

Thanks - I appreciate all the help. To tell you the truth - I'm on a deployment in the army trying to do this all. My partners on the site are back stateside but I'm stuck out here logging in remotely (very remotely).

The server is sitting in Orgegon.

Not sure how i could have three sitemaps. That's extremely weird. I'll have to figure out how the heck that's showing up - I only know of the two.

Site was slow a little bit ago - but seems to be ok now - i just cleared the site cache.
