Check or change your Google News settings

Important: This feature is only available if you're signed in to your Google Account.

You can change your Google News settings, like your: 

  • Language and region
  • Text size
  • Color scheme
  • Video playback options

You can change some settings on the web. You can change more settings in your Google News app, including notifications.

Change your language & region

  1. Go to Google News.
  2. Click Settings  and then Language & region.
  3. Select your language.

Change your color scheme

Dark theme lets you tone down your screen's glare and use Google News with a dark background.

  1. Go to Google News.
  2. At the top right, click Settings  and then Settings.
  3. Next to "Dark theme," choose from these options:
    • System default (when available): Based on your device's system theme, the Google News color scheme will be light or dark. The availability of this feature depends on your browser.
    • Always: The Google News color scheme will always be dark.
    • Never: The Google News color scheme will never be dark.
