When my son left our house, he deleted his access to the Nest - but unfortunately also my wife's (silly he could do this, it should be something only the main owner of the app shuld be able to do!) - there's plenty on how to remove a house member - but nothing i can find on how to get my wife back -  she is still in my google home, and she can still access her nest app - except without any access to the thermostat (and a message to say she no longer has access to this home! We can't add the nest thermostat back to her nest app, as it is already is set up for me - so what should we do? i allowed google to integrate my nest app with Google home, but no on can see or control the thermostat from there, so i still have to use the nest app. When i tried to re-add my wife to it, it says this can only be done through google home - so that's the sum total of  the integration! - to add her to home where the thermostat doesn't appear. It's all very frustrating and (unsually for google) badly thought out. Hope something can be done for us - and for users of the app!

Hi Peter,

Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with adding a home member on your Google Home app. Please try the following steps to add your wife to your home structure.
  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Switch to the home you want to share.
  3. At the top, tap Add   Invite home member or Add person to home  Invite person .
  4. Enter the name or email address of the person you want to invite to your home  tap Next.
  5. You’ll find information about what’s shared when you add someone to your home. Tap Next to continue.
  6. Review the person’s access to your home  tap Send
  7. If the person you’re inviting is not already in your family group, you’ll be asked if you’d like to add them. Tap Add to Family to invite them to your family group or No Thanks to skip this step. Note: You can have a maximum of 6 members in a family group. If you already have a full family group, this option won’t appear.
The person you invite will receive an email with instructions.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Edward

in answer to edward's post ------ my wife is ALREADY in my home - but NEITHER of us can see the nest in the home - just the lounge tv, roku, etc - so we have to switch to the nest app - where i can see my nest thermostat, and she can't in hers - just a message saying "you no longer have access to this home" - the point is HOW does she regain access - she can't add the thermostat to her nest app as it is already connected - this is very frustrating - surely she isn't the only person to have been locked out of the nest app - google must know how to get people back, but your advice is the same as i've had before, despite explaining my wife is in my home group and has access to the nest app - but CANNOT access the thermostat settings because (i repeat myself again) she no longer has "access to this home" ! well not for the thermostat, as back in my google home she has access to everything  else  h shown -  though the nest DOESN'T show there -

somewhere along the line the present integration of the nest app into google home doesn't work very well - and when i go to the nest app, and try to add her to that, it says i can only do so through my google home - which she is already part of!!! (round and round we go, getting nowhere)

maybe the answer is to uninstall the nest thermostat, and start again, but there must be an easier way!

very very frustrating! is there somebody with an answer that works??? please

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the response. Have you migrated your account to Google? If so, please check the account that you're using on your Nest App and also check the your Google Home app for other home structures where your Nest Thermostat might be set up.

Thanks,
Edward

That was it, nest was on one email address, and home on another - now have them both on the same email address, and my wife has access to nest as well as the devices, thanks
