Nest Watch App Changes 0 Recommended Answers 14 Replies 7 Upvotes

Starting July 9th, we’ll no longer support the Wear OS by Google and Apple watchOS versions of the Nest app.

We took a look at Nest app users on smart watches and found that only a small number of people were using it. Moving forward our team will spend more time focusing on delivering high quality experiences through mobile apps and voice interactions.

You will still get notifications on your watch with Nest app via your mobile device. Wear OS users can control their thermostat with the Google Assistant from any Wear OS device, check out more details here. If you’re using an Apple watch you’ll no longer be able to adjust your thermostat or change Home/Away mode from your watch. However, the actions you were able to take on your watch are all available with the Nest app (available for both Android and iOS), so you’ll still be able to control your devices on the go.

Our teams continue to work hard to deliver helpful experiences that you can use no matter where you are. Any questions, let us know!

Please bring Apple Watch support back.  It was the easiest way to control nest especially when you don’t always have your phone with you.  It was even easier when the phone app was available as it didn’t require navigating.

This makes me less likely to continue with the Nest ecosystem.

This really sucks. This is not the first time a feature of a product that I've invested so much into has been killed. If so many developers are being taken away from Nest with the Google acquisition/merge that they don't have the capacity to maintain a relatively simple Apple Watch app, then I'm concerned for the future of Nest and the hundreds of dollars I've already dumped into Nest products.

Well I don’t know how you got your study but I use it all the time rather than whipping out my phone I have my watch on my wrist it’s so much easier and very convenient to use sometimes I think personally they got rid of it because it’s an Apple Watch

Extremely disappointed. I used it loads and seems we’re loosing functionality since Google took over. I’d love the app to come back to the watch as well as keeping the integration with IFTTT. The latter I’ve used heavily in my smart home over the years. Voice control just does match it. :(

Bummer. Not sure now what type of "professional researchers" work at Google 😁 LOL

Is this about users or a battle with Apple?  The iWatch allows for an easy change to a Nest thermostat and a quick snapshot from a Nest camera. Plus, the sane among us don’t want to have their phone with us at all times. Please reconsider this with users in mind. Don’t be evil, right?

I also agree that this change is a huge disappointment.  I was able to check my watch to see who was at my door rather than dig out my phone.  Please bring it back!
