How do I keep other's from connecting to my Google Home Mini? 0 Recommended Answers 2 Replies 1 Upvote

I have a Google home mini set up in my daughter's room.  Today I overheard Google give notifications that the lights are off and on.  We do not have smart lights, so I'm assuming this is someone else's home somehow connected to my Google home mini.  This concerns me, since I have it set up under my own wifi, so how did someone else's smart lights get connected to my device? How do I fix this? And how do I prevent this from happening again?

Nobody else can access the home if they are not on your wifi.

Check your router settings page mine has a network map you can see all devices on your WiFi if you don't know one remove it but disable the WiFi and change your password in case he's sponging off your WiFi. Also turn WPS off. You can also get WiFi apps that create maps of nearby devices so you could see if anyone was in range then do a bit of sleuthing wait till like 8 pm then turn your modem off and see if anyone shouts or yells or leaves to go to a library or WiFi hotspot with their laptop and you know then who and you can do them for theft. Or punch them if that's how you roll
