Got a new modem. Same brand(arris) did a factory reset to all of my points and main router, but when adding device, after i select the router and scan the qr code, it just gets stuck on the "connecting to wifi router" screen forever. It worked on my points, but not on my router. I should also mention, when i try to manually connect my phones wifi to the router, it like pings on and off of it. Tries to connect but doesnt seem to connect. Please help!

Thanks for taking the time to post your concern here. I'm sorry to know that you're having a hard time setting up your Nest Wifi router. Just a few questions, have you try to wired a PC/laptop directly to the new modem to verify if its giving out a stable internet connection? What's the light status showing on your Nest Wifi router upon trying to set it up? Can you try going through these few steps below and see it this would help?

Perform another factory reset on your Nest Wifi router.
  • Press and hold the factory reset button for 10 seconds. The light will flash yellow then turn solid yellow. When the light is solid yellow release the button.
  • This starts the reset process, which can take up to 10 minutes. Do not unplug the power cord during this process.
  • When factory reset is complete, the light on your router will pulse white.
Before you proceed setting up your Nest Wifi router again, kindly check out these few things first.

1. Force close the app and ensure 'Location Services' and 'Bluetooth' are both turned ON on phone you're using. Turn OFF mobile/cell data, if possible.
2. Connect your phone/device - to the setup SSID of your Google Nest Wifi router.
  • Go to your phone’s 'Wifi network settings' > on the 'list of WiFi networks', look for a setup network name that says “setup****.ybd”, it will ask you to put in a password which will be the setup code located on the base of your Nest Wifi router. Once connected, open the app and start the setup.
  • Set up Google Nest Wifi
3. If the same issue persists. Do a full network restart to re-establish connections.
  • Disconnect the power cable and Ethernet cable from the Nest Wifi router.
  • Disconnect the power cable from the modem.
  • Allow the power to stay disconnected from both for 5 minutes.
  • Connect the power back to the modem only and wait for it to fully boot back up.
  • All lights should be lit up before moving to the next step.
  • After the modem is back online, connect the Ethernet cable back to Nest Wifi router's WAN port (globe symbol port).
  • Connect the power back to the Nest Wifi router.
  • Allow all devices to be fully back on.
4. Once done, kindly refer back to steps 1 to 2 and try to set it up again.

Tip: If you have your Google Nest Wifi router connected to a 'modem+router combo device' and has other wired devices connected to other LAN/Ethernet ports. It would be best to disconnect them for the meantime so they won't interfere with your Google Nest Wifi router during the setup process. You can have them reconnected after the setup is completed.
