TCL tv with android 7 “unable to put device in your home” 1 Recommended Answer 11 Replies 24 Upvotes

We bought a new TCL tv with android version 7.0. Build “NTG46”. In google home, it’s under “local devices”, when I attempt to “add to room”, once selected a room it backs out and says “unable to put the device in your home” I can cast to the TV, but that’s about it. Can’t control or cast with either the google home or google home mini.
Also, attempting to “enable voice control and more” also ends up at a dead end with an error saying they’re unable to link the device to my google account.
Edit: just tried to use another phone to set it up, same error message occurred.
