I upgraded my Googe Wifi mesh system to Google Nest Wifi (set of 4) sometime ago, functionality wise (hardware) everything works fine.  I have about 50 wireless devices connected and also setup family WiFi for the kids.  About a week after the installation, the Google Home App started showing "Something went wrong" for both DEVICES and "Family Wi-Fi" entries (see attached picture).  I have performed numerous devices resets, re-installation of the app, nothing seems to help (yes, I did enable Nest Wifi cloud services).  The app has been showing this message for about 5 months and has not been able to recover.  However, on the other hand, I am able to see all my connected devices and family WiFi schedules on native Google Wifi app.   Does anyone know what is wrong with Google Home App for Wifi, and how to fix it?   Thank you in advance.

If yes, then allow me to go ahead and see how we can help you with this. To start, do you mind answering these few questions to better isolate the issue?
  1. Was it an andriod or iOS device the one you're using? Have you tried installing the Google Home app on a different device to see if its having the same issue?
  2. What's the make & model of the modem you're using on the network?
  3. Could you verify how does your network structure looks like? (e.g. Modem -> Switch -> Wifi points)

I suddenly had the same issue after several months of flawless operation - I have a Comcast modem and the Google hub is connected through the modem. I have the Home app on an Android device.

After receiving the error in the Home app I decided to try the Google WiFi app and found access to the devices is available through that app, however, I would rather have access through the Home app so I don't need multiple apps having overlapping functionality.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out to me, to answer your questions:

  1.  This problem was seen on both IOS and Andriod. I've tired to reinstall the app on both OS and did not help.
  2. This is with the Verizon Fios Quantum Gateway modem.
  3. The Nest Router is connected to the modem directly via a network cable.

  1. What's the make & model of the modem you're using on the network?
  2. Have you try uninstalling and reinstalling the app? 
  3. Have you try installing the app on a different device to see if its having the same problem?
  4. Could you also describe how does your network structure looks like? (e.g. Modem -> Switch -> primary Wifi point --> Wifi points)
