hi all, 

my devices on wireless connected to my google wifi randomly drop internet throughout the day. 
setup
TP link vdsl router > google nest router > 3 google nest points 

i have placed the google wan ip in the dmz of the tp link router but its made no difference to how the wifi behaves. There doesn't seem to be a trigger for when the devices drop internet it just randomly happens. 
When i check my 3rd party router to see if its lost internet connection, it reports no drops in the logs.
So is seems specific to anything thats on the google mesh wifi.

The nests dont have ethernet ports so i cant put my laptop on ethernet unless im sitting in my living room. doesnt help when my office is upstairs... 

my gogole wifi has probably been factory reset 5 times... It's not that before anyone suggests it... 

can anyone help please

this is my google router link going down and up on my primary router logs... this happens several times a day... its not the router as it happened on my other router also... i bought a new one to rule out a problem and its still occuring... could be the reasons why the internet drops on devices connected to the mesh?

The only thing that catches my eye here is that the log entry says it's a 100 mbps Ethernet connection. It should be 1Gbps (1000 mbps) if everything is working right. If that Ethernet connection isn't solid, you can easily see this kind of behavior. I would try swapping out the Ethernet cable between your modem/router and the Google WiFi unit (or just re-seating the Ethernet plugs in each end). I've seen this resolve numerous issues of this nature in the past.

I have the same issue. Was worried that, with all of the smart home devices we are accumulating, it would be to much for my 4 year old router. I decided to "upgrade" to the Google mesh system with the nest router and 1 nest AP. After buying everything, most of my devices would not even connect to the Google mesh system and I ended up having to use a 2.4ghz router in addition to the new one just for my devices to connect. Everything hooked to the Google WiFi drops service on and off all day every day and I am constantly having to reconnect everything or reset the system. Also, none of our phones will do wifi calling or texting now that we have the Google WiFi setup which sucks as we have no service at our house (even bought a Google Pixel phone thinking it would work great with all of my Google items). I would have returned it and used my old router, but I gave it away when the Google one arrived as I never would have guessed it would be nothing but problems. I've even spent hours on phone/chat with Google support just to be told they will monitor my system and call me back in x days (never get called back, even once). Very disappointed in a company I have bragged about for years. Wishing I would not have invested so much in my countless "Google Smart Home" devices and maybe went more universal with everything. I wish you luck and please share if you find any fixes to your issues as I bet there are tons of us with similar issues. Thanks

Hi,

Just installed 5 Nest Wifi units in our home.  The internet just went out.  Waited 10 minutes and didn't reconnect.

I went to our utility room and unplugged the main unit and plugged it back in.  Internet started right up.  Aren't these units supposed to trouble shoot a connection on their own?

Thoughts?

I am having the same issue, constant interruption when trying to work from home.  I upgraded system thinking Google nest would handle the traffic but it is terrible.  Any fix here or should I just return the equipment and get something else?
