I bought a Home Hub and a Home Mini this week.  The Home Hub is running newer firmware but won't set a radio alarm.  The Home Mini is running older firmware but radio alarms work fine.  Both have Language set to English (United Kingdom).

I'm aware of reports that radio alarm functionality isn't (yet) available outside the US but some UK users have reported that it does now work amd it does indeed work on my Mini but not on my Hub.  Can anyone shed light on why older firmware seems more capable than newer firmware in this respect?

Details:

Home Hub: System firmware: 151425, Cast firmware: 1.39.151425

Me: "Hey Google, set a radio alarm for 5 pm"
Hub: "Sorry, I can't do that on this device yet. I've gone ahead and set a standard alarm called 'a radio' for 5 pm"

Home Mini: System firmware: 146679, Cast firmware: 1.37.146679

Me: "Hey Google, set a radio alarm for 5 pm"
Mini: "Sure, and what radio station would you like me to play?"
Me: "Radio 4"
Mini: "Sorted. I'll play Radio 4 radio starting at 5 pm"
...And it does!

I've found a workaround for the Hub and that's to set up a routine using the app.  That works fine although it's more hassle to set up.  So why the difference?!  I like both devices but radio alarm functiionality is such an obvious use for the Home Hub that it's odd that it's not working.

We just bought a home hub now that this functionality is advertised as being available in the UK.  Set up the hub, tried to set a radio alarm and the damn thing says it's not available on this device yet.  Exceptionally frustrating.  The google support person I've spoken to says it's available in the US only, even though their website says it's available in the UK.  https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/7071598?hl=en-GB  

Will be returning the device and reverting to our digital radio alarm clock.

Yes media alarms should be available for the Google Nest Hub within the UK. There does seem to be a glitch setting up media alarms currently and I will flag this for the attention of the Google Home team.
 
In the meantime it will be helpful if anyone having trouble setting up a media alarm could send feedback for the team by recreating the problem and immediately afterwards following the steps below.
 
  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi as your Google Home device.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. In the bottom right corner of the Home screen, tap Account  and then Feedback.
  4. Tap the device you'd like to submit feedback for.
  5. In the From: section, tap the arrow on the right to display available emails. Select your email address.
  6. In the Write your feedback area, write your full email address and a brief description of your issue. Please include any important keywords.
  7. Be sure to check the box for Include screenshot and logs.
  8. To submit feedback, tap the arrow icon on the top right corner send icon.

I'm having this issue, but with music alarms on the mini. Extremely frustrating, as they were working up until a few days ago.

Same issue! Been able to set a radio alarms since we've had our home minis, been unable to for the last few days. Says it cant do that on this device yet!! Annoying!!

Same here, since purchase my mini has a routine set to wake me by radio then last night it said this feature is not available!!.........what's going on?

Just got a google home in Australia, same issue, when i try to set a radio alarm, it sets a regular alarm and names it 'radio' :) Looking at this forum seems this issue started recently, hopefully it can be sorted out quickly

Cathal - this problem has been going on for months and months but with no resolution, progress or updates. In fact I think "Support" may have been deleting threads on this forum on this very subject. If I am correct this is very poor show and suggests that Google just want to hide this whole issue under the carpet.
