My nest thermostat (v3) is about 2 months old. It’s been installed using the old thermostat wires to the nest base unit. In the last 2 weeks the display has been behaving erratically. Sometimes it works fine sometimes it won’t turn on. Farsight settings don't seem to effect it either way from the norm. Power to the unit and battery all seem normal (10.5-11v, 3.9v battery, 100ma iirc). If I take the unit from the wall mount the lights on The top flash amber and then green, but still no display. If I put it back and fiddle with the app the unit sometimes springs back to life. At all points I can hear the click so I know it’s still Working fine, and via the app I am able to see temps etc. Even if i stuck a usb cable in the back the display doesn’t necessarily come back on.
I think I have a faulty nest thermostat but I don’t want to return it as it’s all plumbed in and it’s only the display unit that seems to have failed?
