For project development and testing, I have added a virtual device via googlesamples-assistant-devicetool command tool. Unfortunately, my project on Google Cloud Platform has deleted. Now, the virtual device that I have added still remains in my Google Home app. I have tried to unlink it but it shows error "Only owners can unlink". Anyways that I can remove the virtual device from my account?

I have the same issue for my LG TV. Now I have 2 TVs in Google Home app (for the same actual TV) that cannot be unlinked - "Only Owners can Unlink". Clearly a bug or design oversight.

I have the same issue.  I think I fixed it by creating a new home, then move the virtual devices you want to delete into that home and delete the home.  Then unlink LG thinq and relink it.  Then add the device to the original home.  You may have to synchronize devices a few times in there.  So far it's working for me again.  Google / LG need to figure this out, it's not normal.

I solved this. You have to go under your profile in the home app. Then go to assistant tab and select home control. Under that you should have notification of unassigned devices. Go there and assign that device under a room. After that it shortly appears in the main screens device listing. Tap on the device > settings > unlink. Voila! Hope this helps you all!

(UPDATE)
**Never mind, I was too quick to claim success; the account was removed, but the devices remain.  **

I have been moving devices from SmartThings to Hubitat. After moving several devices, I found duplicates in my list of devices. Selecting the device provided by ST, under settings, unlink device,  I got the "only owner can unlink". I even tried removing the Google app from SmartThings, but the devices remained.

I chatted with Nest support, and they walked me through.

On the Home app, at the top, I selected "Add" (the circle with a "+"), then "Set up device", then "Have something already setup". That shows a list of linked services. I tapped the service (SmartThings), and it gave a "Unlink account?" pop-up. Tapping that unlinked the account and devices.
