Google Home has become progressively slower and I need to repeat the wake word three or four times to get it to listen. Tried rebooting but doesn't seem to work. I heard from others that the microphone can go bad and I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue. Any ideas?

Hi Steven,
Thanks for posting in our Google Home Community but sorry to hear about the slow responses from your Home.
Have you tried listening to your voice commands in the Activity log? Your recording should be clear and static free. Check for that. My Google Home's get a bit dusty so I clean them off and make sure no dust has settled into the mic holes. Check for that too.

Hi all,
My apologies for the lack of updates here. The team is still investigating this issue and I haven't received any updates as yet. I'll continue checking in with the team and share any updates I receive.
I understand this issue has been happening for quite some time and has been a rather frustrating experience. Thank you for your patience while our team works through this.
Best,
Rachel

I am having the same issue in my Google Max. The recordings have much more static than the regular Home that I have.
There are no nearby electronics or appliances.
Another more alarming behavior is that the "Bing" that is played to indicate that it is listening is sometimes recorded (in "my account") as a loud screech. Other times it is recorded as a normal Bing.
What is the best way to talk to someone at Google about this?

I am having a similar issue. I have the big Google Home device (over a year now) and the recent Google Home hub (bought on October 2018).
Until 2 weeks ago they both seemed to be working fine. However, the last 2 weeks they have become almost completely useless devices. Whenever I ask for anything, any of the two, seem to "think" about the commands A VERY LONG TIME (over 20 seconds) for simple things such as tell what time it is, turning on a light and playing a song....
It doesn't make any sense. And curious enough, I seem to have a similar problem on my cellphone starting a couple of days ago (Samsung Galaxy S8+).
My brother has a small Google home mini and it was working fine, until a week ago, when it also started having the exact same problem.
In all cases, the commands seem to be heard and understood, but it's the exaggerated amount of time to answer that worries me. No matter if it's using the home wifi network (as all google home devices) or the mobile network (cellphone), the problem is the same.
What to do? Should I get rid of them and start saying that google devices are worthless? It's been 2 weeks now....

Same issue this side too. Done with all kind of troubleshooting.

This is coincidentally since Google changed to the new Google home app, which none of us have still managed to get our heads around, and detest using it.
We have noticed that using the assistant on the phone works ok, it's when using the Google home devices, that's when the issues really start to pile up.
And internet speeds don't appear to be a factor, I can use my phone on a cellular network using H+, and it works well. The Google homes connected to 60mb connection, and there's nothing but trouble.
