I have 2 Nest Hellos and I would like both to ring on the same chime but one is on a power adapter. 2 Recommended Answers 11 Replies 10 Upvotes

Hello. Hello.

I have two Nest Hellos. One is hardwired to the existing chime box using the existing low voltage wires. The chime connector for that Hello is connected to the only two wires in the chime box (front and trans). There is no third wire in the chime box or at the door for a second doorbell. I traced the low voltage wiring for the chime box all the way back to the breaker box and there is no branch for a second doorbell (and I don't want to solve this problem by re-wiring my house...)

The second Hello is using an indoor power adapter. Can I connect the second Hello (the one on the power adapter) to the same chime box even though it is not hardwired? I've seen several people ask about mounting two Hellos on one chime box when both of the Hellos are hardwired but I cannot find a question about whether you can mount one hardwired and one power adapter Hello to the same chime box.

Thank you

I followed this and it got power to both nest doorbells but my chime is ringing continuously. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Hi Joe,

Thanks for reaching out.

The most common cause of constant ringing is mis-wiring the chime during installation. This usually happens with complex chimes that have 3 or more wires. Sometimes these chimes are also connected to intercoms, gates that open and close, or other devices.

Another possible cause is when your transformer's voltage does not meet what is required by the Google Nest Hello. Is it possible to check your transformer's voltage using a volt meter? It should be delivering 16 - 24 V AC, and at least 10 VA (in North America) per Nest Hello or 12 - 24 V AC and at least 8 VA (in Europe).

Should you need further help,  contact a Nest Pro in you area.

Best,
Melba

Hi Doug,

Thanks for posting. Yes, in order to have 2 Nest Hello doorbells setup successfully on one transformer, you need to have one which runs on 16 - 24 V AC, and at least 20 VA (in North America) or 12 - 24 V AC and at least 16 VA (in Europe).
