Home hub doesn't hear me 0 Recommended Answers 25 Replies 57 Upvotes

I have one google home mini in living room and home hub in bedroom. Home hub doesn't pick my ok, google commands. The mini and my android phone responses but this thing doesn't. I need to shout every time. Device is brand new, nearly 1 month. Microphone is clean, i also tried switching rooms and reconfigured device. I checked the forums and learned how to view history in android phone. Home hub's recordings are really bad. My voice is like i'm talking underwater. I want replacement but google doesn't sell products in my country. I saw these devices in CES2019 so i bought it from Vegas. How can i change or get it repaired?

Hello, thanks for taking the time to post your issue.
Try each of the following before moving on to the next:
  • Are you using the Google Home app
  • Are your Apple or Android devices on current Minimum system requirement?
  • If iOS, turn on Bluetooth:
    1. On the home screen, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
    2. Make sure the slider is On (toggled to the right and green).
    3. Close out of Settings and return to the Google Home app .
  • Reboot your router
  • If you have a dual-band router, make sure it is on the 2.4 GHz band for better coverage.
  • Make sure you power the Home device with the provided power supply into an open electrical outlet, not using a USB input on your TV or other device.
  • Try placing your Google Home device about 20 feet away from your router, or less.
  • Unplug your Router and Google Home device from electrical wall outlets for 5 minutes
  • Conduct a FDRon both Home devices

I'm using google home app with the samsung galaxy s9+.

I did everything given in the list. Other devices (google mini, android phone, google chrome cast, smart switches, plugs and tv) working fine. My google home hub is defected.

My Google Home Hub has trouble hearing me as well. I have to shout to get a response most of the time, even when I'm just standing on the other side of the room looking directly at it. My Google Home Hub is in the living room, and I have a Google Home Mini in my bedroom and a regular Google Home in another room in my house, and they will often times pick up and respond to me saying "Hey Google" in the living room while the Home Hub completely ignores me, or even if it has recognized the command the others will still be the ones to respond (and they're not close to the living room at all).

Same here. I’m in the living room talking to my home hub and it doesn’t respond but the mini in the bedroom down the hall does.

Yep same here. I have taken to really yelling at both my Google minis. Especially bad when I'm playing any music or radio even at low volume. I'm

I brought a mini google yesterday for $45 from JB Hi-Fi and it won’t pick up my soft voice. I cannot shout. What can I do?

Turning off the "Lower volume when listening" option fixed the having to shout issue. Thanks all.
