I hate the new mandatory recording indicator that Google has deployed in the name of "privacy". This new mandatory feature actually sacrifices my privacy and security. The new policy, pushed to my device without my consent, mandates that a recording light always be on anytime the camera is recording. This gives every criminal and trespasser a visual indicator as to whether it is safe to break in. I hate, hate, hate this new policy. This feature should have remained optional. Now I have to replace an expensive and previously functional product because Google has deliberately broken it and turned it into a security risk. I am very angry about this forced invasion of privacy.

I use my Cameras to monitor outdoors. Now the thieves will know where they are. I also use a few indoors cameras facing outside. Now these will be useless at night. Nest/Google if this is what you are going to do then issue those of us who spent thousands because they did not have a light a FULL refund. I have 10 cameras 6 indoor 2 IQ and 2 Outdoor. Plus Aware subscriptions. Really Google!

This change is ridiculous. Now when a doorbell is pressed, if I check to see who it is and don't want to see/speak to them they will know that I looked and ignored them. It will also be disruptive in my child's room as it is used as a baby monitor. We paid quite a bit of money for these cameras. WE should be the ones to determine how they are used.

So now, should someone decide to break in, or damage the property, or assault the homeowner, Google helpfully gives the criminal a visual indicator as to whether they can do so safely without being recorded.

I got my nest hello because my wife has a disability. I absolutely do not want random people coming to the door knowing that she's looking to see who's there or if she should open the door. I would never have bought it if it had this "feature" at the time. I have only had it a couple months; can I return it for a product from a company that doesn't want to sacrifice my family's safety or downgrade functionality after it's been purchased?

What a crazy regression and misunderstanding of who you're serving. You are rolling out a feature that takes control of the devices your paying customers OWN out of our hands in the name of protecting the privacy of the criminals we bought our devices to defend our homes from. Like many others I also use one as a baby monitor, a purpose for which it's now useless.

I'm really upset about the mandatory change to lights on all the time on my doorbell and Nest cams.
Since my cams are on private property and I own them, I should be able to opt out of this ridiculous change. Also do not appreciate that we get informed about it after the fact. Having the lights on destroys any effectiveness as a security cam. HEY THIEF LOOKIT ME I'M A CAMERA!

Thanks to the Status Light change I now have 9 cameras that are showing reflections of the status light in the images that they are capturing. In addition the status light causes reflections that make the cameras unwatchable for security purposes. In addition Thieves now know where all the cameras are should they want to take them. I do not believe that Nest/Google thought this through as I now have 10 cameras total that are useless at night due to these reflections and I would like Nest/Google to either reverse this decision or to refund my investment since I would have never thought when I purchased them that they would be made unusable due to a software update.

Attention: Please sign this petition to show your anger at Google’s decision: http://chng.it/RT6GQrYZnF
I am furious about this update. Your software update Google has now rendered this product useless to me. I use my Dropcam as a baby monitor and now the cot is bathed in blue light like a disco and I can’t dim it or turn it off!! What on earth were you thinking? You marketed this camera as a baby monitor on your web site! Who is going to buy this now as a baby monitor? I purchased this product because it had the ability to turn off ALL status lights, and now your software update has ruined this. I never agreed to the update and you’ve changed the product without my permission. Dropcam wasn’t even a google product when I purchased this. I can’t believe a little blue light has caused so much anger in me, but I paid a considerable amount of money for this camera and your decision to change how it operates has forced me to unplug it and put it in the cupboard. Why Google, why? I would like this feature rolled back or a refund - because you have broken my camera!!
