Organize your homes and devices in the Google Home app

Organize and manage your devices through the Google Home app by creating a home. You can add people to share control of the home and its linked devices. For example, add your grouped living room speakers, office lights, and thermostat into a home and invite your family to be members of that home.

Important:

  • Permission changes made to your Google Home, such as adding or removing people from a home, may take up to 5 minutes to take effect.
  • If you use the Nest app and haven’t migrated to a Google Account, you can still manage homes and people who share access to your home with the Nest app.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.

When you delete a home, it is removed from your Google Account. You won’t be able to use the Google Home app to control devices you added unless you set those devices up again in a new home. This includes:

  • Lights
  • Displays
  • Speakers
  • Cameras
  • Thermostats

Deleting your home will also lock the data associated with the home, such as video history from Nest cameras you might own. Your customized thermostat settings will also be deleted. However, data associated with your Google Account will not be deleted. For more information, go to how to remove data associated with your account.
