We moved control of OnHub and Google Wifi devices to the Google Home app. You can easily migrate your Google Wifi network into the Google Home app, where you’ll be able to control your Wi-Fi network and other connected products in one place.

Use Google Nest Wifi and Google Wifi devices on the same network

If you have both Google Nest Wifi and Google Wifi devices, you have a few different setup options. You can add Google Wifi points to a Nest Wifi network, move your Google Wifi network to the Google Home app and add Nest Wifi devices, or create a new network with both devices in the Google Home app. The option you should choose depends on which Wifi devices you have and, if you have multiple routers, which you want to act as your primary router.

Step 1. Select the Nest Wifi device(s) you have

If you have a Nest Wifi router, you can do either of the following:

(Recommended) Option 1. Set up a new network with Nest Wifi as your primary router and Google Wifi or Nest Wifi point as a network extender

For the best possible Wi-Fi range and network speed, we recommend using your Nest Wifi router as the primary point in your combined Wi-Fi network. You can then add Google Wifi and/or Google Nest Wifi points to the new Nest Wifi network for additional Wi-Fi coverage.

Select the set of instructions that applies to your network setup:

I want to add Nest Wifi and Google Wifi to a brand new network.

If you're setting up a brand new network and haven't previously set up any Wifi devices, follow the steps to set up Nest Wifi.

Tip: Set up your Nest Wifi router first then add Nest Wifi devices or Google Wifi devices as additional points to create your mesh network.

If you've previously set up a Nest Wifi network, you can add Google Wifi points by following the steps to add a point to a Nest Wifi network.

Option 2. Add Nest Wifi router to an existing Google Wifi network

With this option, you'll add your Nest Wifi router as an add-on point to extend the coverage of your existing Google Wifi network. This option doesn't take advantage of the improved range and speed of the Nest Wifi router, but it allows you to keep your current Wi-Fi network settings and custom schedules.

To use Nest Wifi with Google Wifi you'll need to use the Google Home app. Learn what happens when you add Google Wifi device and settings to the Google Home app.

Note: OnHub devices are not compatible with Nest Wifi devices. If your existing network contains an OnHub device, you'll need to factory reset your Google Wifi devices and create a new network in the Google Home app. Follow the instructions for Option 1: I want to add Nest Wifi router to a Google Wifi network that's already set up in the Google Home app..
