What to do if your Nest cam or doorbell is stolen

In the unfortunate event that your Google Nest camera or doorbell gets stolen, we can help. When you report your camera or doorbell stolen, you can get a replacement with no additional cost, if you qualify.

Important: The replacement policy only applies to the Nest products mentioned below.

  • The replacement policy applies to users who have installed these devices in all countries where they are available:
    • Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 2nd gen)
    • Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 3rd gen)
    • Nest Cam (battery)
    • Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen)
    • Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen)
    • Nest Doorbell (battery)
  • This replacement policy applies to users who have installed the device in the United States and Canada only:
    • Nest Doorbell (wired)

What to do when your device is stolen after installation

Important: Do not remove your camera or doorbell from your account in the app until you contact Google Nest Support. We need this information to process your replacement. Your camera or doorbell’s footage is stored securely in the cloud. The thief won’t be able to view or tamper with your footage without your password.

  1. File a police report. Immediately report the theft of your Nest Camera or Nest Doorbell to your local police. Save any clips of the theft and provide them to the police upon request if you have a Google Home Premium subscription.
  2. Request a copy of the police report. Make sure you receive the police report. You'll need to provide us with a copy of this report in PDF or other common document types (unedited, scanned files, and others) to process your replacement.
  3. Contact us. Reach out to us within 30 days of the theft, and we'll assist you through the replacement process.

Your stolen Nest camera or doorbell may be replaced with a new or refurbished unit.

Tip: You can send us the copy of the police report by responding to an email we’ll send you after you’ve reported the theft to us.

Additional terms

This theft replacement policy is not applicable in the following situations:

  • If the theft of your Nest doorbell or Nest Camera occurs during or upon delivery.
  • If the device is disconnected from your account for any reason at the time of the theft.
  • If the theft occurs before connecting the Nest Camera or Nest Doorbell to your account in the app.

The replacement of a stolen camera or doorbell is a courtesy service provided by Google Nest as part of the manufacturer's warranty. It does not extend past the warranty expiration date.

Google Nest reserves the right to deny this service at any time due to suspected fraud, warranty expiration, or for any other reason at our discretion.
