Night Vision doesn’t turn on

If your camera doesn’t automatically switch to or from Night Vision when lighting conditions change you might experience a pink, blue, or purple hue when watching your camera’s video stream

1. Make sure Night Vision is set to Auto

Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Tap and hold your device's tile  More More menu  Settings .
  4. Tap Video. Under Night Vision, select Auto.

Nest app

  1. On the home screen, select the camera you want.
  2. Tap Settings Nest settings icon Night Vision.
  3. Toggle the switch to Off, Auto, or Always on

2. Check that lights don’t shine into the camera lens

In some cases, bright lights can delay or prevent the camera from switching to Night Vision.

3. Reset Night Vision or restart your camera

Which method you’ll use depends on which app you use to set up your camera.

  • Home app: Go to your camera settings and turn Night Vision off, then turn it back on.
  • Nest app: Unplug your camera, wait 10 seconds then plug it back in. This will restart the camera and reset the Wi-Fi connection.
