Night Vision doesn’t turn on

If your camera doesn’t automatically switch to or from Night Vision when lighting conditions change you might experience a pink, blue, or purple hue when watching your camera’s video stream.

1. Make sure Night Vision is set to Auto.

In the Home app

  1. On the home screen, select the camera you want.
  2. Tap Video.
  3. Under Night Vision, select from Always on, Auto, or Off.

In the Nest app

  1. On the home screen, select the camera you want.
  2. Tap Settings Nest settings icon Night Vision.
  3. You can toggle the switch to Off, Auto, or Always on.

2. Check that outdoor lights don’t shine into the camera lens. In some cases, bright lights can delay or prevent the camera from switching to Night Vision.

3. Reset your Night Vision settings or restart your camera. Which method you’ll use depends on which app you use to set up your camera.

  • If you set up your camera in the Home app: Go to your camera settings and turn Night Vision off, then turn it back on.
  • If you set up your camera in the Nest app: Unplug your camera, wait 10 seconds then plug it back in. This will restart the camera and reset the Wi-Fi connection.
