Learn about video history

Video history is Nest’s cloud-based video recording and storage service. Your video is stored securely on our cloud servers so you can access it anytime, anywhere. You’ll be able to securely review up to 30 days of video history, depending on your subscription type.

Video history is one of the great features that comes
with a Google Nest Aware subscription for your Google Nest camera.
With video history, you never need to remember to
press record or switch out memory cards; your camera
continuously records and securely stores your camera’s
video in the cloud.

Depending on your Nest Aware subscription, video
history keeps video for a certain number of days. Video
history is stored on a rolling basis, so your oldest
recorded video automatically expires to make room for
new video.

A Nest Aware subscription gives you video history for one Nest camera. If you have more than one Nest camera, you can purchase additional Nest Aware subscriptions of the same length at a discounted price.

Watch your recorded video history

You can securely view your recorded video at any time with the Nest app on your phone, tablet or computer. It’s always right at your fingertips. You can also share access to your video history by inviting other people with Family Accounts.

On your phone or tablet, use Sightline to watch your video history and see snapshots of moments where your camera detects motion or sound:

Save and share your favorite video clips

If your Nest camera captures an event that you’d like to save, like your baby’s first steps, you can create a video clip. Your account in the Nest app can store a total of up to 3 hours of video clips, and they’ll be saved for as long as you like. Share them with family and friends on Nextdoor, Facebook, and Twitter, or download clips to store them on your computer or send them to anyone in an email.

How we keep your video history secure

When your Nest camera is set to private, no one can see your video without your permission. Your video is encrypted on your camera, securely sent to the cloud and streamed to your devices.
