Camera is connected to another account

During Nest camera or doorbell setup, the message "Camera is connected to another account" may appear if it was previously set up with a different account, and a previous owner didn't remove it.

You can transfer the camera to a new home or to your account, but the process is different depending on which app you use to set it up.

  • Cameras set up in the Home app: Perform a factory reset on the camera and pair it to your account.
  • Cameras set up in the Nest app: After the previous owner's video history has expired, which can take up to 60 days, you'll be able to pair the camera to your account. If you're unsure when the video history will expire, check again in a week or two.
