The Google Nest Learning Thermostat is compatible with most whole home humidifier and dehumidifier systems that connect to your thermostat with one or two low voltage wires. Professional installation is recommended for these kinds of systems.
Some humidifiers or dehumidifiers have one wire that can be inserted into the Nest Thermostat's connector. However, if your system has two wires, a professional will need to add a component in order to install the Nest Thermostat.
Compatible wires have one of the following labels:
- Humidification labels:
- H, HUM, HUM1, H2, HUM2
- Dehumidification labels:
- D, DH, DHUM, DEHUM, D2, DH2, DHUM2, DEHUM2
If you don’t have wire labels that match one of the labels above, take a picture of your wires and email it to Nest support. We’ll let you know if you’re compatible.
Why is professional installation recommended?
Regardless of whether your system has one wire or two, an installer is needed to figure out if your humidifier or dehumidifier can be activated on its own or if it requires heating or cooling to be activated at the same time. Your installer will also determine other settings, such as whether the fan is required during operation.
In addition, your installer will choose the right settings for your system in the Nest Thermostat's Pro Setup, which can be found by choosing SETTINGS and then EQUIPMENT.
