Troubleshoot when Nest Protect batteries are low out of the box
If Google Nest Protect chirps or notifies you in the app that the batteries are low after initial setup it's possible that the batteries’ voltage has temporarily dropped. This can sometimes happen when it takes longer than expected to connect your new Nest Protect to your Wi-Fi network and add it to your account. There are a couple of solutions depending on what you see and hear.

- Only use Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA (L91) lithium-ion batteries.
- Make sure you do not use alkaline batteries.
Note: If you don't see a blue light or hear the welcome message after removing the Nest Protect battery tab, it may seem like the batteries are dead.
