What to expect from a Nest Pro installation

Nest Pros are a network of independent companies or contractors not employed by Google.

Google does not provide, sell or receive compensation for installation services and the exact services you receive from an installer, even an installer listed on this site, is determined solely by the installer. You should perform your own diligence on an installer, including asking the installer whether the recommended services below are part of the installation services you are purchasing. To the extent permitted by law, except as set forth in the limited warranty that accompanies the product, Google disclaims all liability for damage caused to your Nest thermostat or your property during installation.

Preparing for Installation

  • Installation appointments are generally scheduled to take place during normal business hours Monday to Friday, however some installers may offer evening or weekend appointments. Actual availability can only be confirmed directly with your installer.
  • Before commencing installation, your installer should check that the Nest thermostat is compatible in your home. If the Nest thermostat is incompatible, a trip fee may be assessed for unsuccessful installations. Check your compatibility here
  • Nest Learning Thermostat: Your installer should consult and agree with you on the best place in your home to install the Nest thermostat. Once agreed, your installer should install the Nest thermostat, Heat Link and, if requested, the Stand for the Nest thermostat.
  • Nest Thermostat E: The Nest Thermostat E comes with a built-in stand and plug so you can place it anywhere, like on a shelf or desk. Heat Link E is designed to go in the same place as your existing thermostat so your Installer will replace in this manner.

Recommended Services

  • A basic installation should include the installer connecting your Nest thermostat to your home Wi-Fi service, or, if requested, showing you how to connect yourself. Once installed, the installer should run tests to check that the Nest thermostat is correctly installed and is working.
  • The installer should also give you an introduction to the product and a demonstration of how it works.
  • A basic installation generally does not include any services such as running new wires required to install the thermostat, patching/painting walls, and moving the thermostat to a different location. The installer will confirm any additional service required prior to commencing that service and will agree to the cost for that service with you.
  • Boiler servicing or repair generally is not included as part of a basic installation. If you would like to have additional work completed, your installer can discuss any work with you and provide a quote for any additional services that you would like to have performed.

  • A basic installation should include installation of the Nest Hello and Nest chime connector. A replacement 12 - 24 V AC transformer may be required. It should also include the installer connecting your Nest Hello to your home Wi-Fi service, or, if requested, showing you how to connect yourself. Once installed, the installer should run tests to check that the Nest Hello is correctly installed and is working.

  • The installer should also give you an introduction to the product and a demonstration of how it works.

  • A basic installation generally does not include any services such as running new wires required to install the video doorbell, or replacing a non-wired doorbell. The installer will confirm any additional service required prior to commencing that service and will agree to the cost for that service with you.
