If you’re a customer of one of Nest’s energy partners, you may be able to sign up for Seasonal Savings or Rush Hour Rewards. You may also be eligible for a Google Nest thermostat rebate or even installation at no cost.
Before deciding whether you’d like to participate in an energy program, learn more about Rush Hour Rewards.
Below, we’ll show you how to find out which programs you can take advantage of and start participating in the ones you’re eligible for.
How to get a rebate on the purchase of a Nest thermostat
Visit the following page and enter your ZIP code to check for rebates.
Even if your energy provider doesn’t offer a rebate on the purchase of a thermostat, you may be eligible for other energy programs. If so, the page will list the programs in your area.
And remember, you can always purchase a Nest thermostat from the Google Store and sign up for available energy saving programs using the Nest app.
Sign up for Rush Hour Rewards
You’ll need two things to sign up for Rush Hour Rewards.
- An account with an energy partner participating in one of our energy saving programs
- A free account with a Nest thermostat added
Note: If you have a Nest thermostat but you don’t have an account in the Nest app yet, see our instructions for adding your thermostat to the Nest app.
When you’re ready, you can check eligibility and sign up.
Your thermostat will check for you
When you first set up your Nest thermostat it will check to see if there are any energy saving programs available in your area. If there are, it will ask you if you want to sign up for one. If you do, the app will guide you. If not, you can always sign up later.
Sign up anytime with the Nest app
If you’ve already gone through setup, the app will check for programs in your area and send you a message. You can also manually check for local programs with the app and sign up. Here’s how.
- Open the Nest app on your phone or tablet, or use a web browser to visit home.nest.com.
- If you’re asked to sign in, enter the email address and password you use for your account.
- Tap Settings on the app home screen.
- Tap Rebates and rewards.
- Take a look at the energy saving programs available in your area, and tap on your energy provider to learn more and sign up.
Note: If you don’t see any programs, it means there currently aren’t any available for your area. Keep in mind, there are other ways your Nest thermostat can help you use energy wisely. See our tips for improving energy savings with your Nest thermostat.
How to stop participating in an Rush Hour event
Your Nest thermostat will automatically tune temperatures before and during a Rush Hour to reduce energy use and lower grid costs. You don’t have to worry about when the next Rush Hour is coming or remember to adjust the temperature. Rush Hour Rewards does it for you.
If you ever get uncomfortable, you can change the temperature on your thermostat to stop participating in the event. If you stop participation in the event, depending on your Program participation requirements you may lose out on some program incentives. Please check your program requirements before choosing to opt-out of an event.
How to unenroll in Rush Hour Rewards
If you’re currently enrolled in Rush Hour Rewards and you want to un-enroll, contact your energy provider.
You can’t use the Nest app to unenroll from this program. That’s because your reward from your energy partner is based on your agreement to help out whenever there’s an energy rush hour.
