Share Nest camera live video

If you want other people to access your Google Nest camera or doorbell’s live video stream, there are a few ways you can share it without giving them your account email and password for the app (never share your password with anybody).

The most common way is to invite a new member with the Home app or with Family Accounts in the Nest app.

Older cameras controlled with the Nest app have a couple more ways to share video: with a password-protected link or with a public link. If you’d like to share your camera’s video with other people but don’t want to share access to your home and all the devices in it, you can share your camera’s video publicly or with a password-protected link.

Share your camera with an app invitation

Important: People who share access to your home with the Home or Nest app can control and access all the Google Nest products in your home. They’ll be able to change settings, remove products from your account and more, so only share with people who you trust.

  1. Send an invitation to your home with the Home app or Nest app to people you want to share your camera’s video feed.
  2. Once they accept your invitation, they can view the live video stream of all the cameras you have in your home. They can also get any alerts for motion, sound and more. If the camera has a Nest Aware subscription, they’ll be able to view its recorded video history.

Share your video stream with a public or private link (Nest app only)

These instructions apply only to cameras and doorbells that are managed in the Nest app.

  1. With a computer, sign in at home.nest.com. Your camera’s privacy settings can’t be changed on a phone or tablet.
  2. Select the camera that you want to share and click Settings  in the top right corner.
Note: If you don’t see Settings , increase the size of your window to reveal it.
  3. Click Camera sharing.
  4. Select a sharing option:
    • Share with password: This lets specific people view your camera’s live stream. They’ll need the link to your camera and enter the password you set. Up to 10 people can view your video stream simultaneously.
Note: The password needs to be at least 8 characters long, have both upper and lowercase letters, and have at least 1 number and symbol.  For security reasons, you can't use the same password that you use to sign in to the Nest app to share your camera.
    • Share publicly: This lets anyone with the link view your camera’s stream. No password is needed.

  5. Click Agree & Share.
  6. A link will be created for your camera. Copy it to share with other people, embed in a website, or post to social media.

Note: You can’t customize the link, but you can change the password if you’ve set one. To change go back to this page and click on Change password. If you choose to stop sharing your camera and then share it again, a new link will be generated.

Stop sharing your video stream (Nest app only)

These instructions apply only to cameras and doorbells that are managed in the Nest app. To stop sharing with others in the Home app, remove the home member from your home.
  1. With a computer, sign in at home.nest.com. Your camera’s privacy settings can’t be changed on a phone or tablet.
  2. Select the camera that you want to stop sharing.
  3. Click Settings . If you don’t see Settings , increase the size of your web browser window to reveal it.
  4. Click Camera sharing and then Stop sharing camera.
