How to update Wi-Fi settings on Nest camera and Nest Hello

If you change your router’s settings, Wi-Fi password, or install a new router, you’ll need to update the Wi-Fi information on your Google Nest camera or Google Nest Hello video doorbell to make sure it can still connect to internet.

Try using the same network name and password

The simplest fix for most Nest products is to update your home network so that the network name (SSID) and password are the same as before. This will usually work even if you’ve purchased a new Wi-Fi router as long as the manufacturer settings are the same.

If this doesn’t work, or you want to keep your new network name or password, you’ll need to update the Wi-Fi details on each of your Nest products.

Update Wi-Fi over Bluetooth

You can set your new Wi-Fi password for your Nest camera or video doorbell with the Nest app on a phone or tablet that has Bluetooth.

Go to the same room as your camera, so that your phone can communicate directly with your camera over Bluetooth.

  1. On the app home screen, tap Settings Nest settings icon.
  2. Select Home info then Home Wi-Fi help.
Note: If you don’t see Home Wi-Fi help, you’ll need to remove your camera from the app and add it back with new Wi-Fi information. You’ll lose your video history so make sure to save any important video clips before removing your camera.
  3. Now select the camera you want to update.
  4. Tap Start.
  5. Tap Update settings.

Follow the on-screen instructions. Scan the QR code on the back of your camera when prompted.
