Aux input for Google Home Max

The aux port on Google Home Max lets you play media from various devices like phone, laptop, CD player, or vinyl record player. You can still use Google Assistant for other things while you play media.

Google Home Max aux

Listen to media from other devices

  1. Plug your device into the aux port using a stereo 3.5 mm. (⅛ inch) cable.
    1. If you’ve paired 2 Home Max speakers, use the aux port in either one of the speakers.
  2. Press "Play" on the connected device.

Tip: For the best listening experience, turn the volume of the source device to a high level.

Don’t get anything? Say “Hey Google, switch to aux” and the content should start to play.

Note: This query is currently only available in English.

Switch to aux by voice

If you play music on Home Max through Google Assistant, you can switch to play music from your aux input. Just say “Hey Google, switch to aux.”

Automatic Switching

Home Max checks for a signal from anything you plug in and automatically switches to aux if you aren't actively casting.

Note: If a cast session just ended, you may have to wait up to 30 seconds before the device automatically switches. If you don’t want to wait, just say “Hey Google, switch to aux.”
