Change the device name

To make it easier to identify and control devices you set up in the Google Home app, you can change the names of your devices.

Change the device name

Speakers and displays

1.  Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
2. Open the Google Home app .
3. Tap Favorites or Devices .
4. Tap and hold your device's tile  Settings , or More   Settings .
5. Tap Device information  Name.
6. Enter a new name  tap Save.

Nest devices

Note: This only applies if you’ve set up your device in the Google Home app. If you’ve set up your device in the Nest app, learn how to change the location or room name of your Nest product in the Nest app. 

1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your Nest device.
2. Open the Google Home app .
3. Tap Favorites or Devices .
4. Tap and hold your device's tile  Settings , or More   Settings .
5. Tap Device information Name.
6. Enter a new name tap Save.
