Customise your voice assistant by changing its language or adding up to two additional languages. Allowing your assistant to recognise three languages. Changes to your voice assistant's language affect all Google Nest and Home devices linked to your account.
Important: Google Assistant can only recognise two languages.
The Home admin's primary language will take precedent. Learn more on how to manage people and permissions in the Google Home app.
The primary language set will be based on the admin who accepted the invitation to Gemini for Home voice assistant.
Before you update your voice assistant's language, make sure that your mobile device or tablet meets one of these conditions:

Change your voice assistant's language
By default, the language is set based on your region.
- On your mobile device, open the Google Home app
.
- At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
- Tap Home settings

Gemini for Home voice assistant or Google Assistant Add a second language to your voice assistant
If you add a second language to your voice assistant, it can recognise either of the languages that you've chosen.
- On your mobile device, open the Google Home app
- At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.

- Tap Add a language
- Choose from the list of available languages.
Talk to your voice assistant in either language
It's easy to talk to your voice assistant when you've chosen more than one language. When you say 'Hey Google' followed by a voice command, your voice assistant answers in the language that you use after 'Hey Google'.
Your voice assistant can't recognise more than one language in the same phrase. For example, 'Hey Google, set a timer for drei Minuten'.
