Broadcast voice messages to Google Nest or Home devices

Send a message to everyone in your home with the broadcast feature on Google Home and Nest speakers and displays. When you broadcast a message, it plays on all of your Google Nest and Home devices.

Tip: You can create routines to broadcast messages in your home. Learn how to create a routine.

Note: If Digital Wellbeing is enabled, this feature may be restricted or blocked by Downtime, Filters or Do not disturb.

Broadcast from one speaker or display to other speakers or displays

What you need

Where the broadcast plays

If the message is started on a speaker or display, it plays on all speakers or displays that:

What you need

If the message is started on a phone, it plays on all speakers or displays that are signed in to the same Google Account

Your phone doesn't need to be on the same Wi-Fi network as your speakers or displays.

Broadcast a message to your entire home

To do this: Say "Hey Google," then:
Create a custom message

"Broadcast [message]."

You can also use the commands “shout,” “tell everyone,” or “announce” instead of “broadcast.”

This broadcasts on all Google Nest or Home devices.

Broadcast a message to a particular room or device

Note: This feature is currently only available in English.

To broadcast a message to: Say "Hey Google," then:
A room
  • "Broadcast to [room name] [message]."

  • "Broadcast to the living room, it's time to start homework."

A device
  • "Broadcast to [device name] [message].”

  • "Broadcast to kitchen display, is dinner ready yet?"

Broadcast a preset message

To broadcast a message for:   Say "Hey Google," then:

Wake up

  • wake up everyone
  • (it's) time to wake up
Breakfast

"Broadcast..."

  • breakfast is ready
  • breakfast is served
  • (it's) time for breakfast
Lunch

"Broadcast..."

  • (your) lunch is ready
  • it's lunch time
Dinner

"Broadcast..."

  • dinner is served
  • dinner is ready
  • ring the dinner bell
  • (it's) time for dinner
  • it's dinner time
Time to leave

"Broadcast..."

  • (it's) time to get out
  • (it's) time to leave
  • (it's) time to leave home
  • (it's) time to leave the house
Arrived home

"Broadcast..."

  • I'm home
  • I'm here
On the way

"Broadcast..."

  • (I'm) on the way
  • (I'll) be home soon

Movie time

"Broadcast..."

  • (it's) movie time

These commands broadcast on all speakers or displays.

Voice match and broadcasting messages

Anyone (including users enrolled in Voice match and guests) can broadcast a message.

Reply to a broadcast

You can reply to a broadcast after it plays. Your reply is sent only to the original broadcast device. Mobile devices and other speakers or displays don't get your reply.

To do this: Say "Hey Google," then:
Reply to a broadcast
  • "Reply [message]."
  • "Send a reply."
