Set and manage tasks

You can set, edit and delete tasks with Google Assistant.

Tip: For Digital Wellbeing to work correctly, your devices and apps must be up to date.

Set up tasks

To use tasks on a shared Google Assistant device, like a speaker or smart display:

  1. Turn on personal results.
  2. Set up Voice Match.

Create a task

Important: The option to set tasks for a certain location is no longer available. You can still set tasks for a certain time and set routines for some locations.

With Google Assistant

You can ask Google Assistant to set a task for you. For example, you can say:

  • "Hey Google, set a task".
  • "Hey Google, remind me to call Mum at noon tomorrow".

On the web

To set a task in a browser:

  1. On your computer, go to Google Tasks.
  2. Click Create .

In the Google Assistant app

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Assistant app Assistant (iOS).
  2. Tap your profile picture or initial.
  3. Under "All settings", tap Tasks.

In the Google app

  1. Open the Google app Google app.
  2. At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial and then Tasks.

Edit a task with your voice

You can change a task's details, like the time. For example, you can say, "Hey Google, change my task to buy milk to 5.00 p.m."

Close a task
When you don't need a task any more, you can mark it as completed.

On an iPhone or iPad

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Assistant app Assistant (iOS).
  2. At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
  3. Tap Services and then Tasks.
  4. Tick the circle next to the task that you want to mark as completed.

On a computer

  1. On your computer, go to Google Tasks.
  2. Tick the circle next to the task that you want to mark as completed.
Delete a task
You can delete a single task or all of your tasks. For example, you can say:
  • “Hey Google, delete my task to empty the dishwasher.”
  • “Hey Google, delete all of my tasks”.

Manage your task notifications

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, you can either:
    • Open the Settings app.
    • Say, "Hey Google, open settings".
  2. Tap Notifications and then Google notifications.
  3. Turn Tasks on or off.
