With Google Nest and Home speakers and displays, you can use your voice to listen to terrestrial and Internet or satellite radio stations through speakers or displays, or a TV or speaker with Chromecast built-in.

Use your voice to listen to radio

Below are some ways to talk to your Google Assistant on a speaker or display when you choose and listen to terrestrial and Internet or satellite radio.
To do this: Say 'Hey Google', then:
Listen to the closest radio station by name 'Play Mega 97.9 FM', 'Play BBC Radio', 'Play Mega 97.9 on iHeartRadio' or 'Play LBC'
Listen to radio station by call sign  'Play KQED' or 'Play KFOG'
Listen to radio station by frequency 'Play 98.5'
Listen to radio station by frequency in another location 'Play 98.5 London'
Listen to radio station by name in another location 'Play Wave FM in Bristol', 'Play BBC Radio Leeds'

Listen to the last radio station or channel that you played

'Turn on the radio' or 'Play the radio'

Listen to the last radio station or channel that you played on a specific service 'Play BBC Radio 2'
Play radio on TV or speaker with Chromecast Built-In 'Play BBC Radio 2 on my <device name>'
Play a nearby NPR station "Play NPR"
Pause  "Pause" or "Pause the radio"
Resume "Resume" or "Continue playing"
Stop 'Stop' or 'Stop the radio'
What radio station is playing “What's playing?”
Control volume 'Set volume to 5' or 'Set volume to 40%'

Troubleshooting

  1. If your speaker or display doesn't play the radio station that you requested, be more specific with your query, or ask for the station in a different way, using name, frequency or call sign.
  2. If the request is not properly answered, try to add 'on TuneIn' or “on iHeartRadio to the query. For example: 'Play BBC Radio on TuneIn', or  "Play ESPN Radio on iHeartRadio".
  3. If the provided station is inaccurate when asking for frequency, try to add the name of a nearby city. For example: 'Play 102.6 FM London'
