Create a shopping list

You can create a shopping list with your Google Assistant on a Google Nest and Google Home speaker or display. Note: You don't need to be a Google Shopping user to create or manage shopping lists.

Note: If Digital Wellbeing is enabled, this feature may be restricted or blocked by Downtime, Filters or Do Not Disturb. Find out more about Digital Wellbeing.

Step 1. Set up personalisation

One person using a Google Nest or Home device

Personal results must be turned on to add or manage your shopping lists and buy items.  

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
  4. Go back to the home screen, then tap your device.
  5. At the top right, tap Settings .
  6. Scroll down to 'More', then turn on On Personal results.
Multiple people using a Google Nest or Google Home device

If multiple users are using the same Google Nest or home speaker or display, everyone who wants to receive personal calendar info on the Google Nest or Home device must link their Google Account and voice to their speaker or display, including the person who set up the speaker or display. If you've already linked your Google Account and voice, skip these steps. 

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
  4. Tap Assistant settings  Voice Match  Add devices.
  5. Make sure that any devices to which you want to link your voice are ticked.
  6. Tap Next  I agree.
  7. Follow the in-app steps.
  8. To hear personal information, you must turn on Personal results. Tap I agree and proceed with the Voice Match setup.
  9. To invite others to set up Voice Match for tailored results, tap Invite, choose your communication method, and send the invite. To skip this step, tap No thanks.
