Philips Hue lights control for anyone in the home

Set up Philips Hue with Google Nest Wifi or Google Wifi

Prep: Check the following requirements

  • Some lights require a Philips Hue bridge in order to connect your Philips Hue lights to Google Nest Wifi or Google Wifi.
  • Set up your Philips Hue lights and bridge in the Philips Hue Android/iOS app.
  • Your phone or tablet is connected to your main Wi-Fi. 
  • If you have a Hue bridge, it should be connected to your router or primary Wifi point’s LAN port 
  • The latest version of the Google Home app available on Android or iOS or Google Wifi app for Android or iOS

Setup: Pair your Google Home or Google Wifi app with Philips Hue bridge

For Google Nest Wifi, we recommend managing your lights through the Google Home app. For more information on setting up your lights in the Google Home app, learn more at Set up and control Philips Hue Bluetooth®-enabled devices. Philips Hue lights can also be set up and managed in the Google Wifi app.

Note: The Hue bridge cannot be paired when your Google Nest router or point is in bridge mode.

With the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top left, tap Add  and then Set up device and then Have something already set up?
  3. Tap Philips Hue and then follow the steps to complete setup. You may need to sign in to your Philips Hue app. The Home app will guide you through the rest of the steps.
With the Google Wifi app
  1. Open the Google Wifi app .
  2. Tap the Settings and actions tab .
  3. Tap Home control. 
  4. Select your Hue bridge from the list of controllable devices.
  5. Tap Pair.
  6. Press the link button on your Hue bridge.
  7. Once paired, tap Done

Remove Philips Hue lights

 

With the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap your light and then Settings .
  3. Tap Unlink to remove your light.

With the Google Wifi app

  1. Open the Google Wifi app .
  2. Tap the Settings and actions tab .
  3. Tap Home control.
  4. Select your Hue bridge from the list of controllable devices.
  5. Tap Remove Device and then Remove.

Finding the controls

To control your Hue lights, visit On.Here on any browser (like Chrome). Select Philips Hue from the list of available devices.

Changing brightness

You can control each individual light or all of them at once. Select the desired light to change its brightness.

Changing color and recipes

Tap the color palette icon in the top right to change the light's color or “recipe” presets. Note: This is only available for Hue lights that support color and color temperatures.

FAQ

Can I set up two Hue bridges with the Google Wifi app?

The Google Wifi app only support one Hue bridge at a time.

Can I control Hue while connected to my main and guest Wi-Fi network?

You can control your Philips Hue lights from the primary or guest network. This means you can grant your family and friends access by simply giving them access to the network.

How do I make sure my Philips Hue bridge has the latest software to work with Google Wifi?

Check your Philips Hue app to see if there are any bridge updates available.

I can't pair my Hue bridge

If the internet/globe light on your Hue bridge blinks during the pairing process, it means it’s having trouble communicating with your Wi-Fi network.

To fix this, unplug the Hue bridge from power, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Then try pairing again.

Can I control the Hue bridge if it’s connected to a switch?

Yes, as long as the switch is plugged into a Google Nest Wifi router or Google Wifi point’s LAN port
