Learn about Nest Aware & Google Home Premium

As of October 1, 2025, Nest Aware (2nd gen) is called Google Home Premium. However, Nest Aware is still available through our third-party partners.

Nest Aware subscriptions purchased from home security partners have not changed and will retain the Nest Aware name. Nest Aware offers intelligent features like familiar face detection, sound detection of events including smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and glass breaking. With an applicable device, you also get access to your video history, whether it’s event based or 24/7 recordings.

Google Home Premium is a whole home paid subscription that builds on Nest's security and current features. Google Home Premium with Gemini makes your smart home smarter, safer, and more effortless. It unlocks more home security features for Nest Cam and the Nest Doorbell, with detailed alerts and easier ways to search your video history. It gives your Google and Nest speakers and displays a more helpful voice assistant.

Google Home Premium subscriptions are only available through the Google Store or Google Home app, for Android users. iOS users need to visit the Google Store to manage their subscription. Find out how to get started with Google Home Premium and manage your Google Home Premium subscription.
