Natural Heating and Cooling

Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) can intelligently turn off your HVAC during periods when the outside temperature can naturally heat or cool your home to save energy. For example, if it’s a sunny day, your thermostat may pause heating in order to take advantage of the sun to finish heating your home to the desired temperature.

• Natural Heating is usually used to help warm your home in the morning.
• Natural Cooling is usually used to help cool your home in the evening.
• Window reminders sends you a notification to open your windows when natural heating or cooling starts.

Natural Heating and Cooling preferences

You can customize your preferences for Natural Heating and Cooling in the Google Home App.

1. Open the Google Home app .
2. Tap Home   Climate   your thermostat.
3. Tap Settings  Temperature preferences.
4. In the Nest Sense section, tap Natural Heating and Cooling .
   • Optional: In the Nest Sense section, tap Window reminders to enable window reminders.
