Enroll in Community Solar

Important: This program is only available to certain eligible users in select US zip codes in the states of Colorado and Illinois.

Nest Renew is partnering with Pivot Energy, a national solar provider which supplies community solar programs and benefits to users. When you join, you'll get savings on your electricity bill and help the planet as the community solar farms put local renewable energy on the grid. You don't need to own your own home (or a roof), have a Nest thermostat, or be a Nest Renew⁵ member to join this community solar program. Google does not provide you with energy, and community solar does not change your energy utility. Pivot Energy builds the solar farms and works with your utility to ensure you get bill savings.

In November and December 2022, eligible users will be invited to sign up for the waitlist. Then, starting in early 2023, eligible users will be invited to join the community solar program with Pivot Energy. When you join Pivot Energy's program through Nest Renew you will get exclusive benefits.

• Support a local solar farm: No upfront costs for you and you can cancel at any time.³ You can join online in just a few minutes.
• No installation or hardware required: Available for both renters and homeowners. Community solar doesn't require you to install or maintain solar panels on your roof.
• Receive solar credits on your electric bill each month: You'll receive a bill from Pivot Energy for your subscription and clean energy credits for your electricity bill. The value of the credits you get back will be more than the cost of your subscription.
• Save money on your electricity bill: Guaranteed to save at least $60 in the first year.¹ The first 2,000 people who successfully enroll will get a $125 Google Store gift card to redeem on any item.²

Availability and eligibility requirements

To be invited (through email and or Nest app) you must be eligible to join. To be eligible to join this community solar program from Nest Renew and Pivot Energy, you'll need to meet the following requirements:

• Have a Nest or Google Home device
• Have a Google account
• Live in an eligible zip code within Colorado or Illinois. You can check your eligibility when you enter your zip code in the Nest Renew portal. The zip codes listed below are not eligible for this community solar program.

How to join

Join the waitlist

If you’re eligible, you’ll be invited through the Google Nest app to join the Community Solar program waitlist. 

• Make sure you’ve turned email notifications on for your account.

Complete enrollment

In early 2023, you'll get an email from Google with a link to enroll. You need to enroll in community solar through the link provided to you by Nest Renew in the email to get the benefits and offers from Nest Renew associated with the program (such as the guaranteed savings as energy credits).¹

1. Follow the Google provided link and complete signup on the enrollment site hosted by our partner Pivot Energy. This includes entering a valid form of payment, supplying your utility account information, providing a contract signature, and agreeing to Pivot Energy's Terms and Conditions.
2. Pivot Energy validates enrollment and will message you about how to redeem any offers once you have been approved. After you've completed enrollment in Pivot Energy's community solar offering you'll have automatic access to your Pivot Energy dashboard.
3. Pivot Energy will send you a welcome email after they've confirmed your enrollment. That email will have instructions for how to redeem your additional Google Store credit (if you are eligible).²
4. Pivot Energy will communicate with you about our community solar plant status: when it comes online, when you can expect to see savings on your bill, and any additional details. Depending on your state and signups some plants will come online sooner than others.
