Allow your ISP to access your Wi-Fi network

Let your internet service provider (ISP) help your Wi-Fi network consistently perform at its best. If you obtained your Google Wifi or Nest Wifi router from your ISP and you choose to allow access, your ISP can help manage any Google Wifi or Nest Wifi router or point in your network.

Note: ISP access is off by default. Also, it cannot be turned on if you purchased your device from a retail store.

Information shared with your ISP

If you turn on access, the following information will be shared with your ISP:

  • Your network’s online and offline status
  • Your router’s model and software version

Additional basic information may be shared in the future, so please check this list from time to time.

How your ISP can use the information that is shared

Your ISP will use the information that is shared to provide you with internet service and manage and improve your network. It will do this in a way that’s consistent with its privacy policy.

For example, your ISP may use your information to:

  • Monitor the health of the ISP’s network
  • Preemptively address issues in their network
  • Fix problems remotely without a visit from a technician

Turn ISP access on or off

You can turn ISP access on or off at any time.

  1. Open the Google Home app  and then tap WiFi.
  2. Tap Settings  and then ISP access preference.
  3. Turn the slider on or off.

This feature is only available with participating ISPs. Please contact your ISP for more info.
